Services

As both a Reading Specialist and a Dyslexia Specialist, I am trained to work with all students who struggle with reading. Some students present with some of the symptoms of dyslexia, but do not have the neurological condition associated with it. Conditions such as ADHD can cause some students to develop gaps in their decoding and/or comprehension. Reading strategies to remediate these deficits vary depending on the needs of the student. Others who are formally diagnosed as having dyslexia require the direct, structured, and systematic approach offered through the Orton-Gillingham method.

Services available:

  • Multi-sensory reading instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach, Wilson or Project Read.
  • Reading Assessment that includes a written analysis of the student’s reading behaviors in the areas of comprehension, decoding, sight word reading, spelling, and writing, along with recommendations for instruction.
  • Tutoring of specific reading comprehension strategies and/or spelling.
